I had the opportunity to meet Lisa Hunt and learn a little about her amazing company, FedUp Foods. She has a passion for plant based diet and spreading awareness on healthy retail foods. Lisa in turn has developed several protein powders with top of the line nutritional ingredients. I had the opportunity to try two flavors, Powerootz Superfood Nutritional Shake Peanut Butter Bliss and Powerootz Nutritional Shake Chocolate Peanut Butter Madness. She has other products, I encourage you to check them out.

Powerootz Superfood Nutritional Shake- Chocolate Peanut Butter Madness

Ingredients: See powerootz.com, This protein powder, as well as all of the products, aren’t the typical ingredients you will find in any other protein powders. When looking at the list, you can read all of the ingredients and know what they are (no weird names or preservatives,) but I thought to myself, I wonder if the combination of them all were any good. In the past I have tried many powders that claim they are really good and the best around, most resulting in disappointment and indigestion. So I went into trying this product with skepticism.

Taste: Ok, ok. I was put in my place. Not only does this company have the BEST taste, there is no grit, no aftertaste of protein, and VERY nutritious. Many other protein powder companies have had heavy tastes that I had to cut my protein scoop in half. This would result in about 8-10 grams of protein in the shake I made. I can get that from eating a yogurt! When I made Powerootz Superfood Nutritional Shake Chocolate Peanut Butter Madness, I was blown away that I was able to use the whole scoop that contained 23 grams of protein! Folks, this is huge! Not only does is taste GREAT, it has high protein WITHOUT THE AFTERTASTE.

How I made it:

Chocolate Peanut Butter Madness

1 cup of Unsweetened Almond Milk

1 packet/scoop of Powerootz Superfood Nutritional Shake- Chocolate Peanut Butter Madness

1 cup frozen Raspberries (I didn’t have a frozen banana)

Taste- I tried the protein powder with just milk and it was a little more chocolate flavor than I liked, I needed something to offset the chocolate, so I added frozen raspberries. This made the difference. The tang from the berries mixed so well with the chocolate it was super tasty. I let my kids try it and they LOVED it! They took my cup away from me and finished it off. So, now you know it’s kid approved too. If I would have added more milk to the powder I would most likely get the taste I was looking for, but overall very good.

Peanut Butter Bliss

1 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk

4 Dates

1/4 cup Gluten Free Organic Oats

1 Frozen banana

Taste- Oh man! When I opened this powder up, my immediate thought was Oatmeal Cookie! So I decided to make this drink into one. First I processed the gluten free oats down to almost a powder and then added the protein powder and other ingredients. I sat next to my fireplace drinking this one. The best part of it all, the Peanut Butter Bliss is filled with nutrients and PACKED with protein, 23 grams. I let my kids try this one too. They said, “wow! It’s a cookie in a cup!” So, kid approved, again.

After consuming these Superfood Nutritional Shakes, I was left feeling full but not bloated. I have NEVER found a protein powder that settled well with my stomach, UNTIL NOW! Let me remind you too, I only used half of the scoop from the other companies and ended up with discomfort. With Lisa’s company, I am able to find nutritious, high protein, tasteful, smooth, and ease of digestion from her protein powders. I highly encourage you to try her products.

Price- I am happy to see that Powerootz.com has very comparable prices and you won’t get a better protein powder than this. Nutritious wise, it has the top of the line ingredients and after speaking with Lisa, she take pride in making sure the ingredients in her products are the best out there. I look forward to adding this product to my shelf and recipes.
